Christie’s, the world’s leading art business, was the first international auction house to establish a permanent representative office in the Middle East and to hold dedicated auctions. Since 2006, Christie’s spearheaded the regional art market for Middle Eastern Modern and Contemporary Art, setting over 450 records for Arab, Iranian, UAE, Iraqi, Egyptian and Turkish artists. As part of Christie’s Dubai 2020 strategy, we are embarking on our fourteenth year by offering cutting-edge curated shows, happenings and auctions across art and design, reflecting the ever-changing and versatile taste within the Middle Eastern art collector’s community.
During Art Dubai, Christie’s will be hosting, in its recently refurbished gallery space in the heart of DIFC, an exhibition juxtaposing Middle Eastern and international art. This exhibition of upcoming auction highlights and private sale property will be inaugurated on 22 March and run till the end of the month. By opening our working space by recently adding an exhibition gallery allow us in hosting cultural events throughout the year and we are looking forward to cultivating a unique experience for our collectors and the wider creative community.
Furthermore, we are building on a strong 2020 October Middle Eastern Modern and Contemporary Art auction in London, to be held during Christie’s Middle Eastern Art Week alongside the Islamic and Carpet auctions and coinciding with the awaited Expo 2020 in Dubai.
At present, we are open to accepting consignments for the October auction and we are looking forward to returning our Middle Eastern Modern and Contemporary Art auction to the UAE as of Spring 2021. Our experienced and longstanding Middle Eastern art department located in Dubai is delighted to advise you on any questions you might have regarding buying or selling at auction, online or through Private Sales.
