On 15 December, Mumbai will once again take its place at the heart of the international art market as Christie’s holds its third auction in India. Featuring exceptional works of classical, modern and contemporary South Asian art, The India Sale comprises 100 tightly curated lots from important private and corporate collections. Alongside classical sculpture and court paintings, the catalogue includes modern masterpieces by Vasudeo S. Gaitonde, Tyeb Mehta, Syed Haider Raza and Ram Kumar, important works by artists Nasreen Mohamedi and Manjit Bawa, and paintings by Nandalal Bose, Abanindranth Tagore and Gaganendranath Tagore, who are designated National Treasures in India.
