Acquired over several decades, this collection comprises over 150 exceptional pieces of furniture, silver, old master paintings, ceramics, sculpture and works of art and brings together renowned makers and artists such as André-Charles Boulle, Gustave Odiot and Léonard Limosin. The top furniture lot is a pair of Louis XIV coffers on stands by André-Charles Boulle, probably from the collection of James de Rothschild in Ferrières. A monumental ormolu and crystal thirty-two light Empire chandelier will also be presented: ‘the Massa chandelier’ adorned the famous hotel particulier of the same name located in the 8th arrondissement, and is attributed to Pierre-Philippe Thomire. The silver section features several pieces by Gustave Odiot, including two pairs of French silver ten-light candelabra engraved with the Rothschild family coat of arms. Opening the sale is a group of 16th century Italian maiolica featuring an early 16th century ewer, and a selection of jewelled Sèvres porcelain. Important enamels will also be offered including a pair of Venetian parcel-gilt and polychrome enamel candlesticks, and portrait of a young girl by Jean-Baptiste Greuze.
